2012 L.A. Auto Show: Mazda

Last year, Mazda revealed the CX-5, its first vehicle built entirely with the company’s Skyactiv drive train and architecture. This year, it’s the Mazda 6’s turn. Following on its Moscow debut, the new Mazda6 midsize sedan shows up for the first time in North America and is the second Skyactiv-based vehicle in Mazda’s lineup here.

Along with new styling and a new 2.5-liter Sky-G engine and either the new manual or automatic transmission, the Mazda6 will bring the Sky-D clean diesel engine to the U.S. market in the last half of 2013. The diesel engine takes the place of the previous generation’s V-6, but Mazda hasn’t released any specs. The gasoline engine produces 184 horsepower and 185 lb.-ft. of torque.
